Problem With Application Package

I was about to go back and realized I needed usepackage[T1]fontenc.

But I’m getting errors in my calculations! LaTeX error: before usepackage documentclass. I don’t use documentclass everywhere. I uploaded res_yy.sty below

You are trying to, I would say, use LaTeX2.09 compatibility mode. In this kind of packageYou are not turning on as you are currently trying to do. But now everyone uses LaTeX2e. I highly recommend using another Elegance document (or package) to write your cover letter [1]. These classes (or packages) are much more flexible and do not depend on the old LaTeX2.09 mode. Inside a container with other upcoming questions that you are free to ask.
